Childcare Leadership Alliance

Welcome to the Childcare Leadership Alliance Engagement Platform.

This is a space to inform members of the community, local businesses, funding partners and childcare operators of the CLA initiatives as they are implemented. We welcome participation by all community members affected or witness to the childcare challenges faced in regional communities.

This platform is designed as a space to share views and ideas and receivenotifications about opportunities to participate relevant to your interest group.

If you are a long daycare, OSHC or family daycare provider or employee we invite you to visit our hub page for Professional Development resources.

If you are interested in contributing in another capacity, please get in touch using the Contact Us form below. We also invite you to share the page with anyone you know who may be interested in contributing.

Childcare Leadership Alliance

The Childcare Leadership Alliance has been formed to work with the community to develop strategic and innovative solutions centre operators can implement to meet the challenge of attracting and retaining early childhood educators and teachers, not only in Moranbah and Dysart but throughout the Isaac region. By doing so, childcare operators can operate at capacity, which will support working families, benefit children’s development and learning outcomes, and benefit local employers.

The challenge is finding creative, competitive, sustainable solutions that will attract and retain early learning professionals for the long term.

How to Get Involved

We need a whole-of-community approach to help us solve this problem. That means working with local educators, schools, businesses, families, and community groups to develop solutions that will work, and that can be sustained well into the future.

If we get this right, it will serve as a blueprint for other country communities.

The Moranbah and Dysart communities are facing a significant childcare challenge, which impacts working families, children, local employers, and the childcare operators themselves.

While there appears to be enough places in local childcare centres to meet the needs of the community, there simply aren’t enough educators and teachers. This means centres are unable to operate at full capacity, and it’s having a flow-on effect to working families.

Without care, parents’ ability to fully participate in the workforce is limited (which predominantly impacts women); and there’s an impact on business productivity for their employers. Importantly, a lack of available places impacts young children, who lose the opportunity to participate fully in quality early learning. The majority of brain development occurs between birth and 5 years of age, and we know those early childhood experiences set the foundations for a child’s future development and learning outcomes.

Children in regional Queensland deserve a chance to participate in quality early childhood education, to give them the best start in life.

Child-to-educator ratios

Why do childcare services need to close rooms or reduce spaces when staff call in sick? The simple answer is child-to-educator ratios.

Childcare is so much more than ‘babysitting’!

Did you know that early learning centres across Australia are required to have formally educated Early Childhood Teachers and Educators.

The survey is now closed. Thanks for participating.
