About the Childcare Leadership Alliance
The Moranbah and Dysart communities are facing a significant childcare challenge, which impacts working families, children, local employers, and the childcare operators themselves. Whilst there appears to be enough places in local childcare centres to meet the needs of the community, there simply aren’t enough educators and teachers. This means that centres are unable to operate at full capacity, and it’s having a flow-on effect to working families.
The Childcare Leadership Alliance has been formed to work with the community to develop strategic and innovative solutions centre operators can implement to meet the challenge of attracting and retaining early childhood educators and teachers. We need a whole-of-community approach to help us solve this problem. That means working with local educators, schools, businesses, families, and community groups to develop solutions that will work, and that can be sustained well into the future.
CLA Strategies
The Childcare Leadership Alliance (CLA) is drawing on the insights and ideas of the community (including the Isaac Regional Council, mining operators, childcare centre managers and staff, parents and families, and community groups) to help us design long-term, sustainable solutions to overcome the challenges faced by this sector. Our key strategies are Professional Development for those in the Childcare sector, acquiring new talent through our Pathway to Permanent Residency initiative and developing an advocacy platform titled 'This is Our Childcare'.
